It was a great turn out at this year’s 25th annual Bay Improvement Group’s toy drive on Dec. 11. Hundreds of toys were collected in just the first hour!

“There were bags and boxes — we couldn’t keep up with it,” said Steve Barrison, president of the Bay Improvement Group, which organized the event.

As the toys were bagged and loaded on to the sleigh, the choir students of PS 52 and the student band of IS 206 caroled and played holiday standards and sent the goodies on their way to be delivered to all those deserving boys and girls, making their holiday season merry and bright.

Co-sponsoring elves included Jack Spadaro, veep at Bay Improvement Group; PS 52 for hosting; Dunkin Donuts of Knapp Street for providing refreshments; Jimmy’s Heros; Lovee Doll Toy Company;; Robert Santa; Diane Baumann; Councilman Chaim Deutsch (D–Sheepshead Bay); Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein, (D–Sheepshead Bay); and Il Fornetto.
