A 65-year-old Bensonhurst man died after a truck driver hit him in a crosswalk at 73rd Street and 19th Avenue in Bensonhurst on Oct. 19, police said.

The driver of the 2015 Freightliner box truck turned right off of 73rd Street onto 19th Avenue when the traffic light turned green and struck Jinsheng Wu, who was driving his electric scooter across 73rd Street towards 18th Avenue at around 10:45 am, police said.

Officers found Wu unconscious and unresponsive at the scene, with severe trauma to his head and torso, police said, adding that emergency medical personnel transported him to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene and there were no arrests, but the Police Department’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident, police said.
