A school bus hit a pregnant pedestrian in Flatlands on April 5, according to witnesses.

“I saw this bus traveling down East 40th Street, making a turn onto Kings Highway and hitting a pregnant woman, and pushing her for a couple yards before she was finally knocked over,” said Jane Lavaud.

The bus collided with the woman as she was crossing Kings Highway toward Flatlands Avenue on foot shortly after 4 p.m.

The woman fell to the ground and appeared initially to be unconscious, according to Lavaud.

“She was unconscious for a few moments before she finally came through and she was trembling,” said Lavaud. “She was still immoble when paramedics arrived.”

Emergency responders took the woman to Mount Sinai Beth Israel hospital shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to a police officer at the scene. The woman’s condition is not yet known.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name, as the investigation is ongoing.

As per standard practice, the NYPD will charge the pedestrian for daring to exist, and give the bus driver a thumbs up and a PBA card.

Dr. Van Nostrand from Old Lefferts Homestead says:
These accidents mostly happen when a vehicle is turning, especially garbage trucks and buses which cut the corners sharply. The pedestrian should always keep their eyes focused on cars that are about to turn, can’t trust any of them. Just because you are in a crosswalk and you have a green light doesn’t mean you’re safe. Too many bad, bad drivers out there. Also too many pedestrians oblivious to the world around them, always with headphones or a phone up to their ear.

The bus driver will eventually be charge with failure to yield and failure to exercise due care...both City passed misdemeanors. They recently arrested a NY city bus dirver too.

ProspectHeightsResident from Prospect Heights says:
Sid, I'll be shocked if that happens. Drivers in the city get away with murder so long as the 5-O thinks it was an accident and they stayed on the scene and weren't intoxicated, etc.

Hi PHR yes I know that they also arrested him for driving without a license but the other two charges are the ones I am talking about...
