A Sheepshead Bay man faces up to 21 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday to killing a man amid a brutal, head-on collision while driving drunk last summer.

Aleh Sheipak, 51, was spotted driving his Volkswagen SUV into oncoming traffic on the Belt Parkway near the Verrazzano Bridge at around 2 a.m. July 12, when he smashed head-first into a Lyft driver’s sedan, according to Brooklyn’s top prosecutor, who railed against the defendant’s devil-may-care attitude.

“The reckless and irresponsible actions of this defendant ended the life of a promising young man and devastated his family,” said Eric Gonzalez. “By choosing to operate a vehicle while intoxicated, the defendant was a danger to everyone that night.”

According to the investigation, Sheipak drove against westbound traffic for over two miles before colliding with the other vehicle, severely injuring the driver and two passengers, including 27-year-old Gerald Obah, who later perished at Langone Hospital in Sunset Park.

Meanwhile, Sheipak failed a field sobriety test on the scene, and a blood sample later revealed that his alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash, according to Gonzalez.

Sheipak plead guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide and other charges on June 5 before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun, who indicated he will sentence the defendant to seven to 21 years at his next court date on August 7, according to Gonzalez.
