Reports of flooding due to heavy rainfall have surfaced in Brooklyn, particularly in the area of Carroll Street and Fourth Avenue.

The New York City Emergency Management Twitter account warned Kings County drivers to use alternate routes due to the flooding.

“Due to flooding conditions, expect extensive #traffic delays in the area of Carroll Street and Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn. Use alternate routes,” read a tweet posted at 4:55 p.m.

Twitter user @BayAreaJulie posted a video taken by friend Adrienne Zhao showing the flooding at the scene. The video shows cars splashing through water that nearly consumed their wheels, while other vehicles were left stranded in the water.

Speaker Corey Johnson tweeted about the flooding at Carroll Street and Fourth Avenue and mentioned other areas in the borough that are also under water.

According to Johnson, there is also flooding at Wallabout Street and Throop Avenue, as well as at Brooklyn Avenue and Park Place.

Subway commuters have had a rough night as well, with numbered train lines once again suffering loss of service in Brooklyn.

Reasonable discourse

OU812 from Park Slope says:
We never had street and basement flooding until the City decided that excess storm water could no longer go directly into the river and has to be treated first. That's all well and good, but perhaps you should make sure you can amp up capacity before you decide to flood out everyone's basement on purpose. Communists!

Nina from Sunset says:
I don’t think a communist government would allow spenditure for an elaborate treatment of water. Using communism as a negative butt in a joke is such a lazy American habit.

Major Mark Zist from Leftist Utopia says:
Nina if you don’t like Americans and defend communism then you could leave. You’re not being ‘cool’ by embracing all the anti-capitalist stuff. This country will not become socialist or communist or Marxist or whatever you nuts are trying to change it into. Your hero Bernie is a prime example of hypocrisy.

Drs315 from BX says:
People just can’t stop making any crisis into a political situation. There was a flood and many people got their bsmt flooded. It has nothing to do with the Democratic Party or Republican Party, nor is it about communism or any other BS.

Ms. Me from Bay Ridge says:
Read the book Gowanus by Joseph Alexiou. This whole area is a flood plain. There is a reason the better housing was built further up the hill.
