Clean sweep

Thieves snatched over $5,000 worth of merchandise from an Avenue U store on July 29.

An employee told police the shoplifters began stuffing items into a pink laundry bag at the store between Hendrickson and Coleman Streets at around 5 p.m., before hightailing it out of the store heading towards Flatbush Avenue.

Bad check

An identity thief swindled a Marine Park woman out of $5,000 on June 3.

The victim told police she dropped a check into a mailbox at E. 37th Street and Quentin Road around noon, only for the thief to fish it out and cash it electronically.

Tool time

A thief looted $3,700 worth of tools from a parked car on Avenue T on July 30.

The victim told police he parked his car overnight near Coleman and Kimball streets that evening, only to return the next morning to find his rear windows broken and his tools missing.
