A fire tore through a Williamsburg apartment building on Saturday afternoon.
More than 100 firefighters rushed to quench the second-alarm blaze at the four-story building on Kent Avenue near North Seventh Street at 4:15 pm, according to a spokesman for the Fire Department.
The flames gutted parts of the building, and the fire swept over to a neighboring house, but there were no reports of injuries, the spokesman said.
Thousands of bystanders watched the plumes of smoke rise, which could be seen from across the East River.
New York’s Bravest brought the blaze under control about 40 minutes later and the Fire Marshals investigating the incident, the spokesman said.
